For players at the 2010 USTA Southern Jr. Team Tennis Section Championships there are many chances to win prizes. The Copeland-Cox Tennis Center provided a carnival tent with games for players to win tickets and exchange them for prizes such as giant tennis balls, t-shirts, popcorn and smoothies.
But the two prizes kids were really saving tickets for were the Babolat tennis racquet and tennis bag.
When Luke Lingle won his 50 tickets he entered for the Babolat tennis bag raffle. After being picked from the raffle on Friday, he was awarded his new Babolat tennis bag. Who knew Luke would have such luck as the next day he entered with 150 tickets for the Babolat racquet raffle and his name was drawn again!
Luke has been saving up his money for one year to buy a Babolat racquet and had saved $180! Luke said that he will still keep saving up his money to buy another Babolat racquet to match this one.
The Louisiana 12 Intermediate player has been a fan of Babolot since he started playing tennis and admires professional players such as Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick who use Babolat.
Luke is new to the tennis scene and this is his first time playing in a tournament, “He grew up playing soccer, but this has been such a great experience for him, he’s found a new first love!” said Luke’s mom.
Also, winning a Babolat bag was Brent Reynolds, the brother of Paul Reynolds, a player for the Kentucky 12 Advanced team. Brent is only 7-years-old and isn’t playing tournaments yet but plans on starting when he’s older.
This is Brent’s first tennis bag and was very excited when he received it when having his photo made with the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center’s manager, Scott Novak.
