Tournament Fact Sheet

WHAT
USTA Junior Team Tennis Champion teams from the nine states in USTA Southern will be invited to compete in the 2017 USTA Junior Team Tennis Southern Section Championships, August 11-13 in Rome, Georgia.

WHO
The Sectional Championships will host a maximum of one (1) team per state in the following divisions: 10U, 12U, 14U and 18U - Intermediate and Advanced Divisions. In addition to the nine state teams, a wildcard will be drawn for each division. The Advanced Low division will be offered in the 18U division and each state will determine the method of how the team will be awarded the bid for that division. 

LEVELS OF PLAY

  • 10U (Intermediate & Advanced), 12U (Intermediate & Advanced), 14U (Intermediate & Advanced), and 18U (Intermediate—3.4 & under; Advanced Low 3.9 & Under; Advanced High—any JNTRP rating). All ratings refer to the time of registration
  • Players with a 3.5 JNTRP rating at the time of local registration must enter at the Advanced level (NTRP 3.5 & above).
  • Players with a 1-100 standing in the 10s who are playing in the 10s must play Advanced. Standings are referring to the July 31 date previous to the Championship Year.

TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION SCHEDULE
Friday, August 11, 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College. There will be a registration table on the porch where you can check in.

TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION:
Coaches are required to turn in all forms during this time (which includes Combined Consent Form)

PLAYER AMENITIES
All players attending the Section Championships will receive the following, to be given to the coach for distribution.

  • Player T-shirt
  • Bag tag commemorating the event
  • Player gift

PLAYER REFRESHMENTS

  • Refreshments will be served Friday evening.
  • Lunches will be provided for players and coaches Saturday
  • Breakfast snack provided on Sunday

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The USTA will conduct two National Championship tournaments at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. The 14s National Championships will be September 21-24 and the 18s National Championships will follow on Sept. 28-Oct.1.
